Eagle Island camp

A typical journey through the Okavango might be spread over a total of seven nights - staying at Savuti in the drylands, and at San-Ta-Wani or the Khwai River Lodge in the delta region. Flights between Gametrackers' lodges take 20-30 minutes. They are timed between morning and evening safaris so there is no loss of valuable game-viewing opportunities.

Guests start from Maun airport which has regular connections with Gaborone in Botswana, Johannesburg in South Africa and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Experience The Last Great African Adventure With Game Trackers

Gametrackers' camps are uniquely sited to give you the fullest perspective of the Delta and the regions surrounding it. With the help of our expert local rangers you can experience all the fascinating possibilities offered by three great eco-systems.Each Gametrackers ranger is an authority on indigenous flora and fauna. He understands the delicate balance of the ecology because he is part of it . . . the latest generation of a people who have hunted, fished and lived off this land for thousands of years.

The Okavango Delta - A Flooded Paradise

The Okavango is not a game reserve, where creatures of the wild are paraded to order. This is true wilderness, full of surprises, where animals and birds come and go as they please, as they have done since the dawn of time. Your ranger will introduce you to this fascinating world, taking you on a water safari by motorboat, or by mokoro (a canoe of a kind that has been in use for a thousand years). The lodges at Eagle Island Camp are surrounded by islands, many little more than tiny hillocks jutting above the water line, others much larger and covered with woodlands and savannah. Most notable of these is Chief's Island, part of the Moremi Game Reserve, which supports a fabulous population of animals and birds . . . zebra, wildebeest, lion, fish eagles, kingfishers, herons and cranes.

Eagle Island Camp is situated on Chief's Island. It consists of twelve reed-built, twin-bedded chalets with en-suite facilities. It has a plunge pool and two bars, one of which is beautifully located overlooking the Delta. Eagle Island Camp is ideal for bird-watching, and trips through the swampland are available by motorboat or mokoro.

Moremi From A Torrent To A Trickle

Here you'll find Khwai River Lodge on the Khwai River tributary of the Okavango. It is on the northern boundary of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, once the hunting ground of the Batawana Tribe.

Your ranger will guide you through the Reserve in an open safari vehicle or on foot, revealing vividly the private lives of the ostrich, antelope, crocodile and hippo. The mopane woodlands are home to elephant, giraffe, impala, buffalo, and predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena and wild dog.

Birds are abundant too . . . giant eagle owls, lilac breasted rollers and ground hornbills are some of the most spectacular.

KHWAI RIVER LODGE has twelve twin-bedded, thatched brick bungalows with en-suite facilities and features a large swimming pool. Enjoy game-viewing and bird watching from open vehicles, hides and safari walks.

SAN-TA-WANI lies at the South gate of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, a cluster of eight twin-bedded, African-style huts, brick-built with toilets and washbasins . There are individual shower facilities with hot and cold running water. Evening meals are served in the traditional African "boma", in front of a roaring fire. Game-viewing and bird-watching by open safari vehicle.

Chobe - A Desert Teeming With Life

Overlooking the Savuti Channel are Gametrackers' Savuti Camps, designed in the old African Style - ideally situated to allow you to experience the magic of this fascinating area. Guided by our ranger in his safari vehicle, you will be able to see herds of elephant, impala, zebra and tsessebe . . . while never far away are the watchful eyes of lions, leopards and cheetahs. On the rocky outcrops you will also be able to see 400-year-old drawings and paintings - a fascinating record of an earlier culture.

The two Savuti Camps, sited deep within the Chobe National Park, offer guests tremendous game-viewing and bird-watching by open safari vehicles and on safari walks. Savuti South consists of eight twin-bedded luxury tents with separate shower facilities, while Allens Camp is made up of eight A-frame bungalows with en-suite facilities. Hot and cold water, electricity, laundry facilities and a fully stocked bar are available at all camps.
