Location

Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp provides guests with a phenomenal camping safari in Botswana Okavango Delta. The world-renowned And Beyond (previously CC Africa) style is evident, as they created a stylish, luxurious and sophisticated space in a wild and scenic setting. Nxabega means “Place of the Giraffe” in the language of the Bayei, who live in remote parts of the Okavango.

Nxabega is on the edge of the Delta and borders the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp houses a maximum of 18 guests in nine luxury tents. The tents are raised on decks and are hidden under African Ebony and Strangler Fig trees, and face out toward magnificent permanent lagoons and channels of the Delta. The lodge offers a tranquil and remote feel as well as an abundance of wildlife that roam the surrounding area. Guests could spot sable, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, lion and elephant amongst many others.

Accommodation

Nxabega offers nine spacious tents that aim to give guests a rugged yet luxurious stay and are all beautifully decorated in an East African style. These exclusive tents surround the magnificent guest area. Despite being sheltered by dense forest thickets, the views from the private veranda on each tent allows for unobstructed views over the ever-changing Delta. Rooms have cowhide rugs on the floor, ostrich egg chandeliers, leather headboards and porcupine quill lamp shades, while the chocolate tones of the wood and burnished teak floorboards create a warm atmosphere. A large en-suite shower provides the perfect start to the morning and will leave guests feeling refreshed and ready for a day filled with activities.

The attention to serving magnificent and unique meals at this Botswana safari camp makes every meal time special. Enjoy breakfast in bed, lamp lit cocktails on a river island and walking safaris with al fresco picnics. Private bush dinners are another unforgettable experience at Nxabega camp and give guests the opportunity to enjoy delicious meals out in the bush, with the beautiful star-studded African sky as entertainment.

Safaris

Game Drives Safaris
Guests will have the opportunity to track down and see the Big Five in two daily game drives that are both exhilarating and educational. Drives are done in an open-air Africa safari vehicle along with an armed guide and a tracker. The landscape explored during these Okavango safaris includes the floodplains as well as the seasonal grasslands, woodlands, shrublands and the savannah. Aside from the exciting predators and large herds of Elephant and Buffalo, other sightings such as the semi-aquatic lechwe and sitatunga antelope are just as majestic.

Walking Safaris
Guests can enjoy leisurely walks in the surrounding area of the camp to see the Delta at face level. Visitors will be accompanied by an armed guide who will provide you with interesting information and fascinating stories. The walks are also ideal for birding and guests could even catch a glimpse of the elusive Pels fishing owl.

River cruises
Trips out on the Delta’s network of channels are done on traditional mokoros or an electrically powered “eco boat”. Being in the company of experienced guides, guests can look forward to learning about the intricate details of the Delta. The clear waters also allow guests to spot a decent variety of fish, colourful frogs and hippos. Fisherman can enjoy fishing trips on request during the fishing season (1 March to 31 December).
