Location

Situated at the heart of a verdant palm island in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta is the perfect base for a Botswana safari, Shinde Camp is an intimate venue perched on the edge of the lagoon of the same moniker. Among this venue’s unique attributes is a singular multi-level dining- and lounge area that is set under canvas up amongst ebony and mangosteen; the ultimate grownup tree house!

Shinde is located on a secluded concession that is perfect for walking excursions, mokoro outings, night drives, game drives and superb motor-boating. The Delta provides year round water activity opportunities, while on land there are various game drives. Combine the two pursuits back-to-back for the ultimate 360 degree game viewing experience! Wildlife abounds in the region and the lesser spotted sitatunga antelope is sighted frequently.

  • Shinde Enclave

Shinde Enclave offers one of the most exclusive stays that you will find at any Botswana camp. Consisting of three luxurious tents that are raised on beautiful teak decks, Shinde is basically a ‘camp within a camp’ and aims to provide an intimate and personal wilderness experience. A private dining and lounge area are available to guests, and is the perfect place to finish off a busy day. This unique Botswana accommodation will also allow guests to make use of a private chef, waiter and housekeeper, as well as their own professional guide and vehicle.

Only six guests can be accommodated at a time in the three twin-bedded tents, which are mosquito proofed. Each luxurious tent comes with an en-suite bathroom, hot and cold running water, a flush toilet and astounding views. The private dining area and viewing deck are just a short distance from the accommodation. The exclusive nature of this accommodation in Botswana makes it ideal for a family or a small group of friends who want to explore the Okavango Delta.

    General

While we do not encourage communication with the outside world, since the charm of a safari experience is partly due to being relieved of the information overload that is conventional life, there are ways of making contact - namely radio message to the Maun base (emergencies only) and snail mail’, which normally takes up to 24 hours. Please note, however, that there are no general use telephones or internet access at camp.

Please do not hesitate to contact an African Travel Gateway representative if you require any further information with regard to Shinde, or Botswana safari lodges in general.
