Tucked away in the rolling hills of Natal's Dolphin Coast, a mere 15 minutes from Durban's City Centre and 10 minutes from Umhlanga's beaches, Mount Edgecombe Golf Lodge offers you spectacular golfing, enveloping golfers in its natural splendour of tranquil green borders with lush indigenous shrubs, flowers and majestic trees. Designed by leading golf course architects Baiocchi, Falkson & Barnard, Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estate Course ONE is one of the few courses in the country designed to USGA specification, and combines an interesting layout of attractive water features, multi-tiered greens with golf cart paths and forgiving roughs.
The course's ecologically maintained environment is a delight to naturalists. A wild bird haven has been created through the development of feeding, breeding, resting and nesting facilities that encourage the natural wildlife maturation. Care has been taken to maintain the existing marshlands, wetlands and grasslands. Golf Course ONE offers 360 degrees of natural splendour and exciting golf.
Indigenous trees, over a hundred species of birds and ducks, a stream and the Pani Dam all combine to create an idyllic backdrop for the second 18-hole golf course designed by renowned golf course architects Dayson, de Villiers and van der Merwe in conjunction with Pittman Poe of Oklahoma, USA. The course contrasts significantly with Golf course ONE in both topography and layout but whilst both offer a golfing environment of incomparable beauty, Golf Course TWO is far more indulging and being of a linear nature results in a stunning design that is challenging but fair.
Mount Edgecombe Golf Lodge features the original theme of Natal-Victorian style where the resulting ambiance of quiet colonialism is reminiscent of country living. The Lodge is situated on the ninth tee, within walking distance of the clubhouse and its facilities. Squash and tennis facilities are available or you may prefer a refreshing swim in the private pool. Golf excursions can also be arranged to many of the other golfing clubs and for those guests that may need a last minute purchase, the Pro-Shop is there to assist you.
