Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp - South Africa
Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp is situated on the border of the Kruger National Park in prime Big Five Country - the beautiful and un-exploited 23000 hectare Manyeleti Game reserve. Offering eco-safaris, this vast private concession area may be explored in open game viewing vehicles, or on foot under the guidance of armed and experienced guides. Guests are accommodated in exclusive East African-style tented-suites, offering the nature lover a close encounter with the sounds and ambience of wild Africa without sacrificing safety or comfort. In the vast Manyaleti, Honeyguide feels utterly remote, yet is a short flight or a scenic 5 hours drive from Johannesburg.
Honeyguide offers value for money without compromising standards or the environmental integrity of the Manyeleti - at Honeyguide you will capture the memory of a bygone era, filled with adventure and romance, where one may rediscover Hemingway's Africa.
ACCOMMODATION
Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp has 12 tents, with twin or double beds. All tents have a bathroom en-suite, with hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets. In front of each tent a deck affords a view of the forested river course. A central thatched bar, dining and lounge building has an open air boma where guests are served dinner next to a campfire. A small pool and thatched hide next to the waterhole enables guests to relax when not on game drives.
ACTIVITIES
Guests wake each morning to the sound of beating drums. Following early morning refreshments served in the tents, activities at Honeyguide include game drives in open game viewing vehicles in the early morning and late afternoon or evening. The morning drive is followed by a sumptuous breakfast, after which guests can relax at the pool, participate in a short foot safari with one of the guides or view passing game from the hide at the waterhole next to the camp. During game drives, refreshments and complimentary snacks are served at a scenic spot, particularly at sunset when the view from the Mohwareng Hills is spectacular!
HONEYGUIDE TRAILS CAMP
Experience a close encounter with the bush, reminiscent of Livingstone's Africa - at reasonable rates! The on-foot safari concept at Honeyguide Trails Camp was pioneered to offer the closest possible encounter with the African bush, and is aimed at the wildlife enthusiast who wishes to experience the bush in all its moods and variations. Armed guides and trackers who passionately share their love and knowledge of the bush with guests, expertly guide the foot safaris (which are similar to the walking trails conducted in the nearby Kruger National Park). Set in a Tamboti Grove on a small river line, in the heart of the Manyeleti Game Reserve (bordering on the Kruger National Park) Honeyguide Trails Camp offers discerning naturalists the unique sensation of experiencing the bush in a real tented camp, soaking up the sounds and smalls of the wild.
Honeyguide Trails Camp exclusively accommodates a maximum of eight guests, in double or twin-bedded canvas tents which are built on large wooden decks, erected in such a way that they can be removed from the site with minimum impact on the environment. To maintain environmental integrity, no concrete was used during construction, giving them an ambience of true safari style.
The tents are stylishly furnished in designer safari style, creating a unique atmosphere where comfort and style is integrated with nature. Each tent has an open air bathroom, complete with shower, wash-basin and flush-toilet - a loo with a view! After a long day tracking the Big Five on foot, there is nothing more exhilarating than an open-air shower under the stars.
The main dining tent holds the promise of long, lazy evenings next to a roaring campfire while Africa hums its eternal chant into the dark night.
