Personal List
- T-shirts
- Cotton
shorts - Good for hiking while at lower elevations.
- Lighter
shoes - To wear in camp after a day of hiking.
- Shade
hat
- Balaclava
- Dark
sunglasses - Necessary, attachable sides preferable.
- Sun
screen - Factor 15 or more, oil based.
- Sleeping
bag - The temperature at night can get down to -10C. A good quality sleeping bag
will assist with a good night's rest.
- Inner
sheet - For Sleeping bag.
- Water
bottle - 3 litres, as you need to drink plenty of water.
- Purifying
tablets - Water is not unhealthy although its flora content is different from
what you are used to.
- Energy
drink - To make the water taste better and provide energy.
- Hiking
boots - Big enough to wear thick socks. Waterproof and preferably leather - particularly
for the rain forest.
- Thin socks - Helps to keep
your feet dry and prevent blisters - cotton or silk.
- Upper body wear - Minimum
three layers. Items should be wool, polypropylene or pile. Thin layers rather
than heavyweight thick jumpers etc. Cotton does not provide adequate insulation.
- Long
underwear - Thermal
- Pants
- Loosely fit and comfortable, tracksuit good.
- Rain
jackets / pants - Gortex / Ventex preferable.
- Warm
gloves / mits - Thin inner pair and heavy outer ideal - Waterproof.
- Day
pack - For your own daily use.
- Canvas
bag - For porters to carry on the mountain. Limited to 12kg.
- Face
cloth - For washing. ‘Wet-Ones’ are also useful.
- Towel
- Small one for the climb only.
- Pocket
Knife
- Torch
- Bring lots of Batteries - your final ascent begins in the dark. A head torch
is useful as it leaves your hands free.
- Walking
stick - Ski pole best as the height is adjustable.
- Gaiters
- To cover your ankles and protect against snow, mud & scree.
- Lip
ice or Zinc Cream - To protect against sunburnt lips.
- Toilet
paper
- Small
garden spade - Please do not litter, dig a 20 cm hole and burn the toilet paper
- PLEASE!
- Trailm
munchies - Bring plenty of your favourites - Chocolate for energy.
- Garbage
bags - To protect your clothing inside your bag against snow and rain. Thick bags
work better.
- Small
mirror - Not essential, but has been suggested by some previous clients.
- Spreads - Bovril / Marmite,
you will be given lots of toast on this trip. We suggest your favorite spread.
- Other
foods - Powdered milk is not available in Tanzania and might come in handy for
your tea/coffee.

Equipment Hire List
The following equipment can be hired from us if you are travelling via Johannesburg.
*** If you would like to hire any of the above equipment please ask for the form to be faxed to you with the booking and payment forms.
Terms and conditions for hiring equipment:
- All equipment requested
will be confirmed in writing by Wild Frontiers - until such time it is must not
be assumed that equipment is booked. It is available on a first-come first-served
basis.
- It is the hirer’s responsibility
to collect equipment and return equipment on the dates specified - any late returns
will be charged at a full weekly hire rate.
- All equipment to be returned
in a good condition. Any lost or damaged goods will be charged for.
- Do not attempt to clean
or wash anything please!! If items are washed incorrectly they will be damaged.
- The deposit stated on this
agreement is required upon collection.
