Madagascar beach and wildlife - Perinet and Nosy Be
Suitable all year round except late January - mid-March when cyclones could occur. Discover the wonders of Madagascar with its great variety of wildlife. Visit the lush eastern region of Madagascar, and then relax in Madagascar's holiday mecca, Nosy Be. Here you can explore the lush tropical rainforest of Perinet, spending two nights in the heart of the rainforest region.
Madagascar's rainforests are among the densest in the world and the floral diversity is particularly rich. The island is home to 20 % of Africa's vascular plant species of which 90 % are endemic. You will take part in a guided night stroll through the forest and will meet nocturnal creatures such as the aye-aye and tenrecs (spiny hedgehogs). You will visit the rainforest at dawn, which is the best time to see the largest of all lemurs, the ape-like indris. Endemic birds include the tylas, nuthatch, the extraordinary velvet asity and more. You might also be fortunate in seeing such species as the giraffe-necked weevil, golden mantilla frog and Parson's chameleon. Walking through the rainforest at daybreak, as the siren-like calls emanate from the mist-enshrouded canopy, is one of the most memorable experiences one can have in Madagascar.
You will then depart for Nosy Be on the north-west coast of Madagascar for some fun in the sun. Nosy Be is the largest in an archipelago of islands in this area. Thanks to a near perfect climate and its "Indian Ocean Paradise Island" ambience, Nosy Be is the most popular holiday destination in the Malagasy region. Day excursions can be arranged to various surrounding islands.
