8 Night Kalahari - Okavango - Savuti - Chobe Safari


Day 1
Today you will meet your flight from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Maun Airport, Botswana. On arrival in Maun you will connect with your light aircraft transfer to the Deception Valley Lodge, where you will spend the next (2) nights on a fully inclusive basis.

Day 2
Today is spent on safari at the Deception Valley Lodge.


Day 3
This morning after your safari and breakfast you will board your light aircraft transfer to the Camp Okavango in the Okavango Delta. Here you will spend the next (2) nights on a fully inclusive basis.

Camp Okavango in Botswana is situated on remote Nxaragha Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience. Unashamed luxury blends with the Africa of yore in the elegant thatch and lethaka main building which houses a cocktail bar, lounge and dining room, while the expansive open air patio caters for al fresco meals and evenings around a blazing fire. Dinner served by candelabra is renowned among knowledgeable Africa travelers. Shaded hammocks, reading benches and a delightful Camp Okavango Bedroomsundeck and plunge pool provide relief during the hot midday hours, whilst an elevated observation platform affords stunning views of the tranquil floodplains. The Camp accommodates only 24 guests in intimate exclusivity in East African style safari tents individually sited on raised teak platforms with en-suite ablution facilities and a private sundeck. Each tent is exquisitely furnished with a Rhodesian Teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional directors chairs; colorful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway. Honeymooners are catered for and, for those that demand the ultimate in exclusivity, Camp Okavango boasts the 'Okavango Suite' where your stay may include private game viewing activities. All electricity at the lodge is supplied via the national grid, and power is available 24 hours a day. Video cameras can be recharged in guest rooms with out adapters. While the sun rises over the floodplain, you watch the wildlife shed its misty morning shroud. Bursting with life, the bush continuously shifts and transforms as you ride from island to island. Camp Okavango is the ideal base from which to discover the secrets of the Okavango wetland ecosystem. Experienced resident naturalist guides conduct all game viewing activities. The Okavango Delta is renowned for its great natural beauty and diversity, a heaven for rare species such as the Sitatunga Antelope and a birdwatchers paradise. Game activities include exploring the Okavango by canoe and river craft on wildlife and bird watching expeditions. Guided nature walks on the islands of the Delta afford an opportunity to track some of the larger species that inhabit this water wilderness.

Today is spent on safari at Camp Okavango.


Day 5
This morning after your safari and breakfast you will board your light aircraft transfer to the Savute Safari Lodge, where you will spend the next (2) nights on a fully inclusive basis.

The summer rains bring a feast for Lion, Hyena and Cheetah as thousands of migrating Zebra and Wildebeest assemble in a chaotic pattern on the marshes. Savute pulses to a timeless rhythm, melodies of mysterious wet and dry cycle that mould its landscape and determines its inhabitants. For the moment Savuti is dry. A winding fossil channel vanishes into the sweeping expanse of a relic marsh, Savute Dining Tablewhere the spectacular fortress of the Gubatsa Hills relieves Savuti's extraordinarily flat countryside. Savute Safari Lodge peers out from ancient Camel thorn trees on the shore of the channel. The cocktail bar summons you with a cold drink on a hot Savute day, while a fireplace turns the lounge into a cozy refuge on winter nights. A handful of small pans sustain Savute's thousands of animals with a permanent, yet fragile water source. On an open vehicle game drive, conducted by a professional guide, droves of bull Elephants shuffle past you towards the water and talk about you in gentle reassuring rumbles. Accommodation at Savute Safari Lodge is 12 twin-bedded chalets and can accommodate up to 24 people. The chalets are contemporary furnished twin-bedded luxury wood, thatch and glass safari suites; ideal for the hot and dry conditions. The game viewing offered by Savute is an experience not to be missed, especially if you are visiting in the summer months, after November's first rains when thousands of animals are drawn to the area. Savute Safari Lodge's highlights are its concentrations of Lion and Hyena, as well as its Leopard, Cheetah, Black-Backed Jackal and the many lone Elephant bulls, usually seen frequenting their favorite watering holes! The summer Zebra migrations, an awe-inspiring spectacle of up to 25 000 animals trooping through Savute in search of the rain-ripe grasslands to the south, is determined by the rains but usually occurs between November - December and again between February - April when the Zebras migrate back north to the Linyanti. At the end of the day admire the sunset from the Savute Safari lodge's upstairs viewing deck and watch Wild Dogs hunt in the channel where Crocodiles once swam. After dinner in the elegant dining room retire to your safari suite and let the gentle Scops Owl and the faraway roar of Lions lull you to sleep.

Today is spent on safari at the Savute Safari Lodge.

Day 7
This morning after your safari and breakfast you will board your light aircraft transfer to the Kasane Airport, where you will be met and transferred by road to the Chobe Game Lodge. Here you will spend the next (2) nights on a fully inclusive basis.

Chobe Game Lodge offers restful, air conditioned, en-suite lodgings furnished with comfort. Throughout graceful high arches, quarry tiled floors and barrel vaulted ceilings creating an atmosphere of cool tranquility. A quintessential African flavor, overlooking timeless vistas of Africa, the superb international cuisine is served on the terrace. Words cannot capture these colors, the smell of Elephants in thick Acacia, the sound of concentrated buffalo herds on open green plains, the atmosphere of golden red sunsets accompanied by the cry of the Chobe Game Lodge Fish Eagle, nor the excitement of a close encounter Chobe Elephant Valley Game Viewingwith a Lion pride. All 46 rooms at the lodge rooms are river facing and are air conditioned with overhead fans, complimentary mini bar and recently renovated en suite bathrooms, each with tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms have their very own private terrace. For those guests who demand the ultimate in exclusivity, Chobe Game Lodge has four river view suites, each with their own plunge pool and a separate lounge area. The Chobe Game Lodges boma (outdoor eating area enclosed by reed walls) is situated under large Mahogany trees on the banks of the Chobe River. Like the rooms, the boma has been furnished in teak and leather. There are two Restaurants: The Table d'Hote Restaurant offers a range of International and Local dishes, the Buffet offers an impressive choice of BBQ meats, salads and range of dishes. Other facilities include: a large swimming pool with terrace, a riverside boma area where traditional dancers perform, a fully equipped conference room, a business centre for those guests needing to keep in touch, a stylish bar with an outside terrace overlooking the Chobe River and a cigar bar with a full sized billiard table. Meals are catered for at the terrace restaurant overlooking the Chobe River. Game drives are conducted under the leadership of qualified guides, in open 4x4 safari vehicles. Following the pattern of the animals, these drives go out in the early morning and late afternoon. A game walk will take you out into the nearby Kasane Forests. The Chobe floodplain is renowned for its Chobe Elephant Valley Verandaconcentration of Buffalo and Elephant. Slide presentations, stargazing and garden walks are also offered by your resident professional guides. The elephant population, estimated to 30,000 is the largest single concentration in Africa, survives within the confines of a proclaimed Chobe National Park. During the harsh season the herds migrate south to north and congregate along the fertile flood plains of perennial Chobe River. Other major species such as Lion, square-lipped Rhino, Wild Dog, Sable and Roan Antelope are encountered in many areas of the reserve.

Today is spent on safari at Chobe Game Lodge.


Day 9
This morning early you will be transferred back to the Kasane Airport where you board your light aircraft transfer back to the Maun Airport. On arrival in Maun you connect with your outbound flight back to the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa.
