Zambia Safari

Fly In Safaris - Africa

Fly In Safaris by definition refer to the fact you access a safari area by aircraft. Once finished with the safari you fly out again. We put together fly in safaris throughout Southern and East Africa, and this type of safari is the most convenient and time saving way to explore a region in Southern or East Africa. Fly In Safaris allow you to access remote and different safari areas that maybe very far apart from each other.

For example in one fly in safari, we could join Johannesburg, South Africa with camps in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, continue to Zambia to explore say the South Luangwa National Park, and then return to South Africa. This can be done in as little as 4 or 5 days or as much as 10 or 12 days - depending on how much time you have. The advantages with a fly safaris is that you save time thereby maximizing your time spent on the ground;  the wilderness areas we fly into are spectacular to see from the air and you can cover vastly different areas in a short period of time.

The type of aircrafts used in flying safaris vary from the smaller Cessnas to the Caravans and other aircraft. More often than not the airstrips in the wilderness areas that we visit are dirt, although some are tarred.

Typically what happens on a fly in safari, is you land at an airstrip in the bush, and will be met by a representative/s of the safari camp or lodge you will be visiting, and will then do a game drive-transfer (often by open safari vehicle) to the lodge or camp. Here you spend the 2 or 3 nights that we have booked doing safaris, which depending on the area you are in could mean game drives, night drives,  walking safaris, boating activities including mokoro excursions.  The safari camp guides & staff will host you for the duration of your stay, and at the end of the time you will be transferred back to the airstrip where you board a light aircraft either to the next safari camp on your itinerary, or to the closest regional airport, where you connect with a commercial flight to the city you need to fly out from.

Below is a list of typical Fly In Safaris that we offer in varying countries. Essentially each one is tailor-made, so please contact us if you don’t see one that meets your requirements ...
