Okavango Delta

Under the shady canopy of indigenous tress and Lala Palms on the island of Xaxaba, lies a thatched paradise known as Eagle Island Camp. The camp is hidden deep in the Okavango Delta and gazes over a majestic lagoon, which is topped up by the Delta’s waterways. Guests visiting this part of the Okavango Delta can expect excellent wildlife viewing as well as exceptional bird watching safari holidays. The camp was built to blend into the surroundings and produces phenomenal views that will leave you breathless.

Eagle Island Camp

Guests at this Okavango safari camp can look forward to spending time at one of the most romantic bars around, the Fish Eagle Bar. This magnificent bar is situated on its own private island away from the camp and provides splendid views over the lagoon. Those looking for ultimate relaxation can take up a spot on the raised deck which also stares out over the water. The al fresco dining area offers fine dining coupled with true African sunsets or guests can swap stories with new friends around the camp fire. Internet access and satellite TV is provided away from the main living areas and a large 20m swimming pool is available for guests.

The Safaris

Guided walks, Eagle Island Camp

This Okavango safari camp offers a lot more than a quiet and relaxed stay. Guests can look forward to superb walking safaris on surrounding islands where you could be lucky enough to enjoy a close encounter. Mokoro (a traditional canoe) and boat trips through the winding waterways of the Delta can also be enjoyed. From November through to March, the water levels lower and allow guests to take 4x4 game drives off of the island. Game viewing is done in the mornings and late afternoons, and excellent bird watching can be enjoyed from the mokoros or motorboats. Fishing excursions are done along the Bora channel and a strict “catch and release” rule is enforced. Basic rods and reels are available at the camp, but it is recommended that the more serious fisherman brings along his own equipment. A stay at Eagle Island Camp will also give guests a magical 45 minute helicopter flight over the majestic Okavango Delta.
