Impalila Island Lodge is located on an island that forms the eastern most point of Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. The island is rich in birdlife and surrounded by two of Africa’s great rivers; the Chobe & Zambezi Rivers.. Impalila Island Lodge is an ideal getaway for travellers wishing to experience the Chobe & Zambezi and children from 6yrs and older are welcomed. Activities at Impalila Island Lodge are varied and exciting, these include:

* Conventional and fly fishing on the Zambezi or Chobe Rivers.
* Sundowner boat cruises on the river.
* Boat cruises for game viewing on the banks of the Chobe National Park Guided walks on Impalila Island which focus on birding, trees (including a 2000 yr old Baobab) and village visits to local communities.

A good “give back” feature of Impalila, is the voluntary donation of ZAR 40.00 that guests may contribute to which supports the Community Development Fund that serves the purpose of social upliftment to the local communities that form part of this beautiful area.

Accommodation at Impalila Island Lodge

Accommodation at Impalila Island Lodge is comprised of eight river-facing chalets with thatched roves. The chalets can be made up to either double or twin beds, and each is furnished and equipped with a viewing deck, en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, a small safe for safe keeping of your valuables, electricity (220 volts AC) supplied by a generator.

Guests staying at Impalila also have use of the lodge’s complimentary laundry service. The main area for the lodges is also a thatched building with wooden deck that has been designed around one of the timeless baobab trees that characterize this part of Africa. There is a bar & lounge and the dining area is set out with individual tables. A library complete with nature based reference books makes for a quiet area to read, and a swimming pool and curio shop complete the facilities.

There are a host of other activities that can be arranged from the lodge (at an additional cost), that enhances a longer stay. These include activities such as: Day trips to the Victoria Falls where many further options are on offer, including bungi jumping, flights over the falls, canoe safaris and more. Game drives into Botswana’s Chobe National Park is another exciting activity, to compliment the boat based game viewing on the Chobe River.
