The Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, recently redesigned to be one of the only fully solar powered houseboats, offers on an ‘Exclusive-Use’ basis a Chobe Safari for up to 8 travellers, that is very hard to beat. Berthed on Botswana’s Chobe River, the Pangolin Voyager is the ideal option for exploring the wild waterways of this region in the comfort of your tender boat.
Officially based on the Namibian bank of the Chobe River, the Pangolin Voyager is best accessed via the small Botswana town of Kasane. The Pangolin Voyager is berthed only 70 km upstream from the majestic Victoria Falls and a visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a ‘must’ on all itineraries. The Zambezi River thunders over these roaring falls, aptly renamed Mosi-oa-Tunya, The smoke that thunders.
The top deck features an exclusive lounge and dining areas where scrumptious meals are served at the large central table. Sweeping views of the river and bush beyond complete your dining experience. The comfortable lounge areas and well-stocked bar make a visit to the lounge an enjoyable experience, while large windows and binoculars enhance your game viewing opportunities. Sundowners, stargazing, and even game viewing can be enjoyed from sun loungers on the open-air deck. In short, everything you need for a comfortable stay has been thoughtfully provided at the Pangolin Voyager. This floating lodge lets you explore the rich floodplains in the relaxed style of a bygone era.
Our onboard chef is ready to serve tea, coffee, cereal, and muffins before your early morning game-viewing excursion or fishing expedition. Upon your return, you will be treated to a full English breakfast. High tea is served before the afternoon’s activities and in the evening a three-course meal, followed by a nightcap is enjoyed as the African sun sets accompanied by the roar of a lion or cackle of a hyena in the distance.
The Pangolin Voyager offers accommodation of the highest standard. The lower deck features five well-appointed and exquisitely decorated en-suite cabins. Each with near floor to ceiling windows providing unforgettable views as you float along the river.
The day’s activities depend on your interest. Spend a morning birdwatching, enjoy the wildlife on the riverbank, or revel in an excellent day of game fishing. Relax on the upper deck or take a day trip to the famed Victoria Falls.
Game viewing here is a treat for all the senses. The river, acting as the northern border renowned Chobe National Park, is home to hippos, crocodiles, and feisty game fish while the banks are frequented by elephants in their thousands. Herds of antelope and buffalo are followed by large numbers of predators. This is nature of its finest and based on a safari boat you are offered an exclusive game viewing experience. Fishing for game fish in the Chobe River is a dream come true for any avid fisherman. Test your skills against the mighty tiger fish, the most explosive fighting game fish in the world. If you want that added challenge, go for the ‘Zambezi Grand Slam’ and catch bream, tiger fish, and catfish all in one day.
An all-new editing suite has been added to the houseboat, a secluded and tranquil space where you can edit your photos from the days game viewing activities. Photographic equipment as well as a Pangolin Photo Host can be booked in advance at an additional cost, please enquire with us about this on booking.
