Arrive off a morning flight at Cape Town International Airport, from here you will be transferred along the coast to the beautiful De Hoop Nature Reserve. You will then check into Lekkerwater Beach Lodge where you will spend the next 3 nights. Lekkerwater Beach Lodge is set in a secluded section of the De Hoop Nature Reserve, each room has been designed to take full advantage of the stunning ocean views and surrounding landscapes.
Spend the next few days immersed in the beauty, excitement, and tranquillity of the De Hoop Nature Reserve, one of South Africa’s most breathtaking coastal reserves. This protected area is rich in history dating back to the Stone Age, home to endangered species like the Cape Mountain Zebra, and known for its diverse landscapes — from pristine beaches to fynbos-covered hills.
Each morning begins with a delicious breakfast before you choose your day’s adventure. Lekkerwater Beach Lodge offers a variety of activities perfect for families and nature lovers alike: enjoy guided game drives, birdwatching, or seasonal whale watching right from the shoreline. For something different, explore on a guided nature walk to discover the region’s unique flora and fauna, or join an archaeological tour to learn about ancient human history. Those seeking relaxation can take a leisurely stroll along the beach or simply unwind on the sundowner deck, soaking in the endless ocean views.
This morning, savour your final breakfast with sweeping views over the beach before heading out for one last coastal walk or activity, time permitting. Afterwards, your driver will collect you for a scenic journey back to Cape Town. You’ll check in at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, perfectly located in the heart of the V&A Waterfront — one of Cape Town’s most popular family destinations. From your room, enjoy views of the harbour, bustling docks, and the iconic Table Mountain rising in the distance. The rest of the day is yours to unwind and explore: stroll along the V&A Waterfront, shop for local treasures, or visit the Two Oceans Aquarium, one of the city’s top family attractions.
Cape Town is one of the most vibrant and family-friendly cities in South Africa, filled with fun, adventure, and endless opportunities for all ages. From golden beaches along the coastline to the majestic peaks of Table Mountain, the city invites families to explore, learn, and play together.
Over the next two days, you’ll experience the very best of Cape Town — from coastal drives to mountain magic. Begin with a scenic journey around the Cape Peninsula, stopping in Kalk Bay for seaside charm, fresh coffee, and perhaps a glimpse of seals on the pier. Continue to Simon’s Town to visit the famous Boulders Beach penguin colony, before enjoying a relaxed family picnic on the sand or along a quiet mountain trail. Follow the breathtaking Chapman’s Peak Drive, where ocean views stretch for miles, and end your day exploring the lush beauty of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, where kids can wander the treetop canopy walkway as the sun sets behind Table Mountain.
The next day is dedicated to the city’s most iconic sights. Take the cable car up Table Mountain for sweeping views of Cape Town, then uncover history at the Castle of Good Hope. Wander through the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap, browse local markets for handmade treasures, and enjoy traditional Cape sweets. As evening falls, head to Signal Hill to watch the sun dip below the Atlantic — the perfect finale to an unforgettable family adventure in Cape Town.
Enjoy your final breakfast in Cape Town before heading to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. From there, you’ll board a light aircraft flight to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s premier Big Five safari destinations within the Greater Kruger National Park.
Upon landing at the airstrip, your private guide will greet you and escort you to Jaci’s Sabi House, your exclusive-use safari lodge for the next three nights. This beautiful property, surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking an active waterhole, offers an intimate family safari experience where you’ll have the entire lodge to yourselves. The adventure begins the moment you arrive — settle in, relax, and take in the sounds of the bush before setting off on your first open-vehicle safari in search of Africa’s incredible wildlife.
A day on safari starts quietly, with the soft stir of the bush and a warm cup of tea and rusks before the first light of morning. Then it’s off on your adventure — perhaps a guided walk to track fresh prints in the sand, or a game drive through open plains as the sun rises and the wildlife begins to stir. You might spot elephants on the move, lions stretching after the night, or smaller creatures often missed in the rush of the day.
When you return to camp, a generous brunch is waiting, followed by a slow, easy afternoon. The heat invites rest — a swim, a good book on the deck, or simply watching the animals wander by. Later, after a light tea, you’ll head out again as the light softens and the air cools. The afternoon drive often ends with a quiet stop in the bush, a drink in hand as the sky turns to gold, before returning to camp for dinner and stories shared by the fire.
The beauty of staying at an exclusive-use safari lodge, like those in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, is the freedom to create your own rhythm. Your private guide will tailor each day around your family’s interests, ensuring the best game-viewing experiences and a truly personal South Africa safari adventure.
As all journeys must, your time in South Africa comes to a gentle close. After breakfast — and perhaps one last morning drive or walk if time allows — you’ll make your way to the airstrip for your flight back to Johannesburg. As the landscape stretches out beneath you, it’s hard not to replay the moments that made this trip special: the still mornings, the wide skies, and the rhythm of the wild. You’ll leave with a heart full of memories and a quiet promise to return to this remarkable country one day.
