Day 1

Fly Johannesburg to Victoria Falls, Transfer to Victoria Falls River Lodge

Today you will board your flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.  Upon arrival at the Victoria Falls International Airport, you will be met by your guide from Victoria Falls River Lodge and transferred to the lodge where you will spend the following 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis.

Upon arrival you will be shown to your room, you will be staying in one of the Island Treehouse Suites. Situated on the Kandahar Island, a short boat trip off the mainland, the Island Treehouses are a romantic and secluded paradise.  With raised walkways through the trees connecting the rooms to the dining and lounge area and spectacular views of the Zambezi River you are sure to feel instantly at ease.  Each treehouse is equipped with a king-sized bed, a private deck with a plunge pool overlooking the river and a private butler. You will have time to settle into your treehouse before afternoon tea and your first game-viewing activity.

Day 2 & 3

At leisure to enjoy the many activities in Victoria Falls

Your day’s on safari in Victoria Falls will include game drives through the national park, sunrise or sunset cruises along the mighty Zambezi River and daily trips into Victoria Falls Town where a Tour of the Falls is included. Your guide will take you through the rainforest surrounding the falls and show you all the best viewpoints, remember that you will get wet from the spray so take a cover for your cell phone or camera.

Your time in camp will be spent relaxing on your private deck and enjoying all the camp facilities.  As part of your honeymoon package, you will each receive a spa voucher to use during your stay, and enjoy your massage treatment with the sounds of the river passing you by.  In the afternoons you will head out on your game-viewing activity, the Zambezi National Park is home to Africa’s Big 5 so your chances of spotting all of these animals are high.  Dinner is served on return from your afternoon activities.

Day 4

Transfer fromVictoria Falls to Hwange National Park, for Little Makololo Camp

This morning after breakfast and a morning activity (if time allows) you will be transferred back to the Victoria Falls Airport in time for your charter flight to the Hwange National Park. Upon arrival at the airstrip, your guide will be waiting to transfer you to Little Makololo Camp where you will spend the next 4 nights on a fully inclusive basis. The drive to camp will essentially be a small game drive so be sure to keep a look out for wildlife.

Little Makalolo Camp is situated on a private concession within the Hwange National Park. There is a waterhole located in front of the camp meaning that one can do some game viewing right from the main deck or from your room.  Each safari tent is tastefully furnished with all the amenities that you could need to make your stay comfortable.  Once you have settled into your tent it is time for afternoon tea followed by your first game-viewing activity.  Dinner is served around the boma on return from your afternoon activities.

Day 5,6 & 7

On Guided Safaris in the Hwange National Park

A typical day on safari will begin with early morning tea and rusks before you head out on your morning activity, either a game drive or a guided walking safari where you will have the chance to do some game viewing and a chance to spot some or all of the Big 5.
A delicious brunch is served on arrival back from your activities and then the afternoon is yours to relax in camp, take a dip in the pool, game watch from the deck or have an afternoon siesta. 
Afternoon tea is then served before you head out on your afternoon safari, you will stop along the way for some sundowners as you watch the sun slip beneath the horizon before heading back to camp for another tasty dinner around the boma.

One night during your stay at Little Mokololo, you will have the opportunity to spend the night on the star bed at Madison Pan.  This is an incredible experience, a luxury bedroom under the stars in the middle of the Hwange National Park.  A night at the star bed is weather-dependent and at the discretion of the camp manager.

Day 8

Departure Hwange to Johannesburg

As all good things do, your time in Zimbabwe draws to a close.  After breakfast you will be transferred back to the airstrip in time for your flight back to Victoria Falls, from here you will board your flight back to Johannesburg with incredible memories of your honeymoon in Zimbabwe.

03 nights accommodation on a fully inclusive basis at Victoria Falls River Lodge:

Personal Butler, all meals, local and superior beverages, twice daily game viewing activities, snacks & beverages are included on the game viewing activities, an optional daily transfer from the Island to Victoria Falls town, a Tour of the Falls (part of the daily transfer to town), transfers to/from jetty for 3rd party activities, afternoon tea, laundry, access to fitness centre, Wi-Fi. We’ve been booking through African Travel Gateway for over 25 years now and honestly, they’ve never dropped the ball once. They have looked after us for ages and just get what works for our family. This last trip we took the three kids (11, 9 and 6) to South Africa – Cape Town, a few nights camping in the Karoo, and then Kruger. They put the whole thing together perfectly: nothing felt rushed, everything suited the kids, and the logistics were completely painless. Cape Town was great fun (Table Mountain, penguins, the works). The Karoo nights were something else – massive sky full of stars, big campfire, total peace and quiet the kids still go on about. And Kruger… wow. We saw the Big 5 – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino – plus heaps of giraffe, zebra and everything else, pretty much every single drive. The guides were brilliant with the children and kept everyone safe. Everything just worked – flights, transfers, the lot. They checked in along the way and tweaked little things when we needed. Proper personal service. If you’re thinking of taking kids to South Africa, we can’t recommend African Travel Gateway enough.

We had a wonderful time visiting South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. We had a party of 10, including 4 grandchildren ages 10 and 8 and everything went beautifully. Lize did a great job helping us plan the itinerary, booking flights within Africa and identifying the best lodging and camps for us to visit. We saw the Big 5 on two separate days and also saw African wild dogs. Each of our camps in Sabi Sands, Victoria Falls and Moremi Game Reserve had a distinct style but all were welcoming and comfortable and animals proliferated. We would definitely use African Travel Gateway if we return to Africa. Thanks Lize!

Just returned from a safari with my partner and 2 friends. 3 countries South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana. We had a wonderful trip to Africa with everything arranged by Bianca Gersbach. She was extremely attentive to our wishes, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We wanted a full overview for our first trip to Africa, and we received it. We went on Safari in 3 countries: South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. We saw so many animals! But that wasn't all, we had a delightful visit to the South African wine country, and deep-dive experiences in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. The township tours and trip to the Apartheid Museum really opened our eyes. At times, Bianca knew what we wanted better than we did. She insisted that we'd enjoy the Okabango Panhandle, and we did! It was magical. A real highlight. A less engaged travel consultant might have let me make a suboptimal choice. We also enjoyed several days in Victoria Falls. I can't praise Bianca and African Travel Gateway enough. We will certainly use them again when we decide to return, and we will return. Once is not enough!

We had the most amazing time on our self drive tour of Namibia organised through African Travel Gateway. Everything from the planning and booking process, to the arrival and welcome in Windhoek, to the app with the itinerary and directions made for a really relaxed and well organised holiday. But the most important part was getting to experience Namibia - what a spectacular country! The only negative was that we should have booked for longer!
