Nairobi to Masai Mara
On Safari in the Masai Mara, Kenya
Depart to Nairobi
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by our representative after clearing immigration and transferred to Wilson Airport for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the iconic Maasai Mara. The scenic flight offers beautiful views of the Great Rift Valley before landing in the heart of this world-famous game reserve. On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred by open safari vehicle to Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp, enjoying your first game drive en route.
Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp is ideally positioned on the edge of the Mara, offering sweeping views across the plains. You will spend the next three nights in a Superior View Tent on a fully inclusive basis. These spacious safari tents are elegantly furnished with comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms, and private verandas that overlook the savannah, perfect for watching wildlife pass by. The camp features a welcoming main area with a lounge, dining space, bar, and swimming pool, creating a relaxed yet refined safari atmosphere that blends comfort with an authentic wilderness experience.
Your next two days are dedicated to exploring the vast landscapes of the Maasai Mara, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. Covering over 1,500 square kilometres of rolling grasslands, acacia-dotted plains, and riverine forests, the Mara forms part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem and is world-renowned for its exceptional game viewing. Morning and afternoon game drives are led by experienced local rangers who share their knowledge of the land and its wildlife.
The Maasai Mara is home to an incredible concentration of animals, including large prides of lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and numerous antelope species such as topi and impala. The Mara and Talek Rivers attract hippos and crocodiles, while birdlife is prolific throughout the reserve. Between July and October, the area becomes a key stage for the Great Migration, when vast herds of wildebeest and zebra cross into Kenya in search of fresh grazing. Each game drive offers a new perspective on this wildlife-rich ecosystem, making every safari outing a memorable experience.
After breakfast at Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp, you’ll bid farewell to the plains of the Maasai Mara and begin your journey back to Nairobi. The light aircraft transfer offers one last glimpse of Kenya’s countryside as you return to the capital.
On arrival at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your departure flight home, marking the end of your memorable Maasai Mara safari experience.
