Today you board your flight from O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe, a journey of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Victoria Falls River Lodge, a drive of around 30 to 40 minutes through the Zambezi National Park. Here you will spend the night on a fully inclusive basis in a luxury tented suite set along the banks of the Zambezi River.
Nestled within the national park, Victoria Falls River Lodge offers a tranquil and scenic setting with uninterrupted river views. Each spacious tented suite features a private deck with a plunge pool, comfortable interiors and all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay, creating a perfect blend of luxury and nature. In the afternoon, you will head out on a sunset cruise along the Zambezi River, where you can enjoy drinks and light snacks while watching the sun set over the water and spotting wildlife along the riverbanks.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders”—the falls offer breathtaking viewpoints and insights into the history and geology of the area. Following your visit, you will be transferred by road to Kasane in Botswana (approximately 1.5 hours), where you will complete border formalities before continuing by boat to Namibia via Impalila Island. This scenic boat transfer offers your first taste of the wildlife-rich Chobe River.
You will then board the Chobe Princess Houseboat, your home for the next three nights on a fully inclusive basis. The houseboat offers an intimate and relaxed safari experience with a small number of cabins, comfortable lounge and dining areas, and an open deck ideal for enjoying the passing scenery. Daily activities include guided boat safaris along the Chobe River, where you can get close to elephants, hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. With its peaceful setting and ever-changing views, the Chobe Princess provides a unique and memorable way to experience one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich waterways.
Spend the next two days enjoying a relaxed river safari aboard the Chobe Princess, with a variety of activities designed to make the most of the incredible Chobe River setting. Daily excursions include boat-based game viewing along the riverbanks, guided fishing trips, island walks and visits to local Namibian villages. There is also the option (at an additional cost) to enjoy a guided game drive into Chobe National Park, one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich reserves.
The Chobe River forms the boundary of Chobe National Park, which is famous for its large concentrations of wildlife, particularly its vast elephant herds—some of the largest in Africa. From the comfort of your tender boat, you can get close to animals as they come down to the water to drink and bathe, including elephants, buffalo, hippos and crocodiles, as well as a wide variety of birdlife such as fish eagles, herons and kingfishers. The slower pace of a river safari allows for exceptional wildlife viewing and photography opportunities throughout the day.
The Chobe Princess itself has been recently refurbished, offering a fresh and modern feel while still maintaining a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Each cabin is tastefully decorated and features large windows with beautiful river views, allowing you to enjoy the scenery from the comfort of your room. The upper deck has been transformed into a spacious viewing area with uninterrupted views over the river and surrounding landscapes, complete with a small splash pool—perfect for cooling off between activities. Whether relaxing on deck or out exploring by boat, every moment on the Chobe Princess is designed to immerse you in the beauty of this remarkable region.
After breakfast, you will be transferred by boat to Impalila Island to complete exit formalities before re-entering Botswana. From here, you will be met and transferred by road to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe, a journey of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours including border procedures.
On arrival at the airport, you will check in for your return flight to Johannesburg, which takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes. This brings your Victoria Falls and Chobe safari to an end, leaving you with wonderful memories of river safaris, incredible wildlife encounters and the beauty of one of Africa’s most iconic regions.
