Namib Desert – Mowani Mountain Camp, Damaraland
Damaraland – Onguma The Fort, Onguma Reserve
Etosha – Windhoek
On arrival in Windhoek, you will be met and assisted with your travel documentation before boarding your private charter flight to the Namib Desert. The scenic flight takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, flying over the dramatic Namib Naukluft mountain range on your way to Sossusvlei. On landing, you will be met and transferred by road to Namib Outpost, a short drive away, arriving in time for lunch and check-in. You will spend the next two nights here, enjoying guided activities that introduce you to the beauty and scale of the Namib Desert.
Namib Outpost is set within the 7,000-hectare Desert Homestead Nature Reserve and offers a warm welcome along with stunning views over the desert landscapes. The lodge features comfortable, stylish rooms designed to blend with the natural surroundings, along with a main area where guests can relax and enjoy meals overlooking the plains. Activities in the area include guided excursions to the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, nature drives, and sundowner outings where you can take in the vast desert scenery. This region is also known for its clear skies, making it ideal for stargazing in the evenings, offering a peaceful and memorable start to your Namibian journey.
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your scenic flights north toward Damaraland. The journey consists of two flights of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes each, with a short stop in Swakopmund for refuelling (around 30 minutes). The route offers incredible aerial views of Namibia’s vast and contrasting landscapes, from desert dunes to rugged coastline and inland mountains. On arrival in Damaraland, you will be met and transferred to Mowani Mountain Camp, where you will spend the next two nights exploring this remote and striking region.
Mowani Mountain Camp is uniquely set among granite boulders, blending seamlessly into the dramatic desert landscape and offering breathtaking views over the Abu Huab River valley. The camp features a collection of beautifully designed tented rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, open-air elements and private decks that make the most of the surrounding scenery. Some of the higher-category rooms also include private splash pools, adding an extra level of comfort to your stay. During your time here, enjoy guided nature drives in search of desert-adapted wildlife such as elephants, as well as visits to the ancient Twyfelfontein rock engravings, the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain. This remarkable region offers a truly unique desert safari experience, combining geological wonders, wildlife and rich cultural history.
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your onward journey to Etosha. The flight includes a 1 hour 25 minute leg to Ondangwa, followed by a short refuelling stop of approximately 30 minutes, and then a further 30-minute flight to the Etosha region. Enjoy sweeping aerial views of Namibia’s rugged landscapes as you make your way toward one of the country’s most celebrated wildlife areas. On arrival, you will be met and transferred by road to Onguma The Fort, located within the private Onguma Reserve on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park. This will be your home for the next two nights.
Onguma The Fort is a unique and luxurious lodge designed to resemble a Moroccan-style fort, offering panoramic views over a waterhole and the surrounding plains. The lodge features spacious suites, a swimming pool and inviting lounge and dining areas where guests can relax between activities. During your stay, enjoy guided game drives both within Etosha National Park and on the Onguma Reserve. Etosha, covering over 22,000 square kilometres, is Namibia’s premier wildlife destination and is known for its vast salt pan and exceptional game viewing. The park is famous for its striking “white elephants,” which appear pale due to the mineral-rich dust of the Etosha pan, as well as other wildlife including lion, cheetah, black rhino, giraffe, zebra and a wide variety of antelope. Waterholes attract large concentrations of animals, creating unforgettable safari moments throughout your stay.
After a final morning safari activity and breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your return flight to Windhoek. The flight takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, offering one last chance to take in Namibia’s vast and beautiful landscapes from above.
On arrival at Windhoek International Airport, your Namibia Highlights Safari comes to an end, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the country’s dramatic deserts, unique wildlife and remarkable scenery.
