The Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, recently redesigned to be one of the only fully solar-powered houseboats in the region, offers an exceptional Chobe River safari on an exclusive-use basis for up to eight guests. Moored along Botswana’s wildlife-rich Chobe River, this unique safari combines comfort, sustainability and outstanding wildlife viewing. Guests explore the river by tender boat, allowing for close encounters with the incredible wildlife that gathers along the water’s edge, including large herds of elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. With comfortable cabins, inviting lounge areas and a viewing deck ideal for relaxing between activities, the Pangolin Voyager provides a peaceful and intimate way to experience the beauty of the Chobe National Park while enjoying spectacular sunsets and excellent wildlife photography opportunities.

Officially based on the Namibian bank of the Chobe River, the Pangolin Voyager is most easily accessed from the nearby Botswana town of Kasane. The houseboat is located just 70 km upstream from the spectacular Victoria Falls, making it easy to include a visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site in your itinerary. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders”—Victoria Falls is one of Africa’s most iconic natural wonders and a perfect addition to your Chobe River safari.
Life on board the Pangolin Voyager is relaxed, comfortable and centred around the incredible river scenery and wildlife of the Chobe floodplains. The top deck features inviting lounge and dining areas where delicious meals are served at a large central table, all while enjoying panoramic views of the river and surrounding bush. Comfortable seating areas, a well-stocked bar and large viewing windows provide excellent opportunities to watch wildlife from the boat, while the open-air deck is perfect for sundowners, stargazing and quiet moments taking in the beauty of the African landscape.
Each day follows a gentle safari rhythm. Early mornings begin with tea, coffee and light snacks before heading out for a game-viewing excursion, photography safari or fishing trip on the river. On returning to the boat, guests enjoy a hearty breakfast before spending the rest of the day relaxing or heading out again for afternoon activities. As evening falls, a delicious three-course dinner is served while the sounds of the African wilderness echo across the river, creating a truly memorable safari atmosphere.
The Pangolin Voyager offers comfortable and stylish accommodation designed to make the most of its incredible river setting. The lower deck features five beautifully appointed en-suite cabins, each thoughtfully decorated to create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere for guests. Large near floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light and provide uninterrupted views of the Chobe River, giving you the feeling of being fully immersed in the surrounding wilderness.
Each cabin is designed with comfort in mind, offering cosy beds, modern amenities and a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the river and its wildlife. As the houseboat gently drifts along the water, guests can relax in their cabins while watching elephants, hippos, birds and other wildlife along the riverbanks, making the accommodation itself part of the safari experience.
Days on the Pangolin Voyager are relaxed and flexible, allowing you to enjoy the Chobe River at your own pace. Guests can spend their time birdwatching, photographing wildlife along the riverbanks, trying their hand at game fishing, or simply relaxing on the upper deck while the scenery drifts by. Excursions on tender boats provide excellent opportunities to explore the waterways and get closer to the incredible wildlife that gathers along the river. A visit to the famous Victoria Falls can also easily be included during your stay.
Game viewing along the Chobe River is truly spectacular. The river forms the northern boundary of the renowned Chobe National Park and attracts large concentrations of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles and vast herds of elephants that regularly come down to drink and bathe. Buffalo, antelope and a variety of predators are also found in the area, making each outing on the water a unique safari experience. For fishing enthusiasts, the Chobe River offers the chance to test your skills against the powerful tiger fish, one of Africa’s most exciting game fish.
For photography lovers, the Pangolin Voyager also features a dedicated editing suite where guests can review and edit their photos in a quiet and comfortable space after each activity. Professional photographic equipment and a Pangolin Photo Host can also be arranged in advance at an additional cost. With personalised service, tender boats available for each cabin and a wide range of activities, the Pangolin Voyager offers a truly unique and memorable Chobe River safari experience.
