Day 1 – Arrival in Cape Town, The Silo Hotel

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the Silo Hotel at the V&A Waterfront. The Silo Hotel is situated a stone’s throw away from the V&A Waterfront with gorgeous views over the Cape Town Harbour on one side and Table Mountain on the other.

The Family Suite is a duplex suite with two bedrooms, each with its own stunning view over the city or harbour, a luxurious lounge area, and a private balcony.  Each room is furnished with exquisite amenities to ensure your stay is as comfortable as you could possibly imagine.  With many in-house dining options, a rooftop bar and a rooftop swimming pool, you will feel at ease during your stay at the hotel.

Day 2 – Cape Town City and Table Mountain Tour

Today you will be collected after breakfast for a private adventure tour of Cape Town City. Your guide will take you and your family in a luxury - fully equipped for any adventure - airconditioned vehicle through some of the most historic and vibrant areas of Cape Town City. Take a step back in time with your guide as you tour the historic museums and monuments, view the city from a different perspective by biking along the promenade, or if you are feeling adventurous take a hike up Lions Head which is sure to guarantee some spectacular views over the harbour and city, they options are endless depending on how your family wants to view the city. Head up one of the seven natural wonders of the world – Table Mountain.  The cable car rides up and down the mountain are a wonderful experience, stroll out onto some of the viewpoints overlooking the city and take in the beauty of the mountain.  After your tour, you are transferred back to your hotel where you can relax for the evening or head up to the rooftop swimming pool for a dip while watching the sunset over the Mother City.

Day 3 – Cape Peninsula Tour

After breakfast this morning your guide will collect you from your hotel and take you and the family on a private adventurous tour of the Cape Peninsula.  Discover the beauty of the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, the sheer drop-offs on Chapman’s Peak Drive, and visit the lighthouse at Cape Point (there is an option to take a funicular ride to the lighthouse, a great option for the kids), we will then head to the naval base town of Simonstown where we will visit the penguin colony at Boulder Beach, try your hand at some paddle boarding, kayaking and even some snorkelling while the penguins swim amongst you.  Pop into the quirky shops that line the roads in Kalk Bay and enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants or even better stop for a beachside picnic.  After your tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel for a relaxing evening after your day of adventures along the cape.

Day 4 – Hermanus Tour

Today takes you and your family on a fun-filled tour of the fishing town of Hermanus, with quaint shops, a variety of seafood restaurants, the museums and of course the chance to see some whales right from the shoreline.  Stops along the way can include the Betty’s Bay penguin colony, sandboarding or biking on the Betty’s Bay sand dunes, hikes in the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and the delicious wine tastings at some of the wine farms in the area.  As you traverse the coastal road along the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, we will stop along the way to try and spot some whales, dolphins, seals and many other marine animals.  If you and your family are thrill seekers there is also the option of shark cage diving, a unique opportunity to see the Great White Sharks up close.  After your tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel for the evening.

Day 5 – Free day in Cape Town

Today is yours to spend at leisure enjoying the hotel facilities or the activities that the nearby V&A Waterfront has to offer. You will find countless activities and sights to see at the V&A Waterfront within walking distance from the hotel for yourselves as well as the children, from the Cape Town Aquarium to the ships and Cape Fur Seals in the harbour, to the craft markets and high-end shops. Return to the hotel for a delicious dinner at the rooftop bar or restaurant before your safari begins tomorrow.

Day 6 – Flight to Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, Tswalu The Motse

Today you will be collected after breakfast and transferred to the Cape Town International Airport where you will board your charter flight to the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve.  The Tswalu Kalahari Reserve forms part of the greater Kalahari Desert that spans South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. This vast arid landscape plays home to stunning scenery and incredible desert-adapted wildlife.

You will arrive mid-afternoon and will be transferred from the airstrip to The Motse, where you and your family will spend 4 unforgettable nights. You will be staying in a family legae (Tswana for “home”), each family legae has two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a central living room and a balcony overlooking the surrounding bush.  Each legae is built from stone ensuring the temperatures inside the suite are cool, as the temperatures in the Kalahari can reach up to the 40-degree Celcius mark during summer.  Once you have settled into your legae, a late lunch or afternoon tea will be served before heading out on your first game-viewing activity.  Return to camp in time for a delicious dinner, served under the African skies.

Day 7, 8 & 9 – On safari in the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve

Tswalu focuses on family safaris, which includes families in all shapes and sizes, ensuring the kids have plenty to learn about and occupy them, the parents have some free time to relax, and making sure the grandparents are comfortable and enjoying every aspect of Tswalu Kalahari.  Each morning you will head out on an early morning game viewing activity, your chances of spotting wildlife such as aardvarks, brown hyenas, and pangolins, but the Tswalu Kalahari is also home to lions, rhinos, African wild dogs and many plains game.

After your morning activity you will return to camp for a hearty brunch, you can choose to dine in the main dining area or in your suite. During the heat of the day, you can relax at your suite or the main area, take a dip in the inviting swimming pool or enjoy a cold refreshment while watching the wildlife come down to the waterhole in front of camp.

Afternoon game drives take place after tea, but there are a variety of other activities to choose from, especially for the children – from animal tracking, horseback riding and viewing ancient rock paintings, to a visit to the habituated meerkat population (a hit for adults and children) where you can interact with these animals and watch how they live their daily lives.  Dinners are served under the starry skies where you can swap stories with the rest of your family or other guests.

Day 10 – Departure for Cape Town

Your time in South Africa draws to a close, after a last morning activity at Tswalu, you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your charter flight back to Cape Town International Airport.  While you bid the Kalahari farewell, we are sure you and your family will already be planning your next trip to Africa, a truly captivating destination.
