Arrival at the Selati Game Reserve, Transfer to the Wilderness Camp
Walking safari in the Selati Game Reserve
Departure from the Selati Game Reserve
Whether you are flying in or self-driving, your meeting point for the start of this animal tracking walking safari begins at the Selati Game Reserve Headquarters. Here you will meet up with your guides for the next few days and you will be transferred to a wilderness camp within the Selati Game Reserve – this will be your base for the next 5 days.
The wilderness camp that you will call home for the next 5 days is completely off grid and designed in a way that there is no environmental impact on the surrounding ecosystems. There are only 4 safari tents equipped with all the comforts that you will need after your long days out in the African savannahs.
Your typical day on this animal tracking and walking safari will start with an early wake up, just before sunrise. Enjoy some tea and coffee and a light breakfast as you listen to the sounds of Africa waking up. Shortly after sunrise you will begin your morning tracking experience.
As you find some animal tracks to follow, your guide will explain more about these tracks, the animals that you are tracking and how they live in harmony with all the surrounding landscapes and other wildlife. You’ll be supported with ongoing mentorship throughout the trailing journey—learning how to identify and assess tracks, anticipate animal movements, and keep a steady pace to close the distance between you and the wildlife you’re following.
You will then return to camp for lunch and a short rest during the heat of the day before you head out again to find some new fresh tracks to trail during the afternoon. Each day will be different, tracking different animals, coming across some incredible wildlife sightings and learning how to become one with nature and appreciate all aspects of the African bush. Dinner is served back at camp while you reminisce on the days tracking experiences.
This morning you will head out on one last animal tracking expedition before you head back to camp to collect your belongings and are transferred back to the Selati Game Reserve Headquarters. African Travel Gateway can assist with transfers to and from the Reserve as well as domestic flights to the area.
