Day 1 – Arrive in Cape Town, transfer to Hermanus, Whale Rock Luxury Lodge

Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Whale Rock Luxury Lodge in Hermanus where you will spend the next 3 nights.  Whale Rock Lodge has gorgeous views over the ocean, spacious gardens, and a lovely swimming pool for the children to play in and is close enough to the famous cliff path take a stroll to the beachfront or into town. Each room is tastefully decorated and equipped with all the amenities you will need to make your stay comfortable.  This evening is yours to relax at the lodge, enjoy a dip in the pool or take a stroll along the cliff path to the beach.

Day 2 – Full Day Hermanus & Surrounds Tour

Today after breakfast you will be collected for your Go As You Please tour of Hermanus and the surrounding areas.  You and your family decide where you want to go, of course, your guide will give you some excellent suggestions as well.  From a trip up Table Mountain in the cable car (a fun trip no matter your age), a tour of Cape Point, a stroll through the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a visit to Betty’s Bay Penguin Colony (a must for the kids), to wine tasting and a guided tour of the museums in the area, the ideas are endless depending on what your family would like to do.  Lunch will be for your account at one of the nearby restaurants, after your day of exploring comes to an end you will be transferred back to your lodge for the evening.

Day 3 – Marine Cruise

Today you will head out on a whale and bird-watching cruise to Dyer Island.  Whale watching is seasonal from June to November so during those months you will have a great chance of spotting some whales, however during the rest of the months the cruises are just as exciting for parents and children alike. You may spot dolphins, cape fur seals, seagulls and a variety of other Sealife and birds.  You will have the chance to visit the local penguin colony before being transferred back to your lodge.  The evening is yours to enjoy all the facilities at Whale Rock Luxury Lodge.

Day 4 – Transfer to Kapama Private Game Reserve, Kamapa Southern Camp

Today will be an early start as you are transferred back to Cape Town International Airport in time for your flight to Hoedspruit where your safari will begin.  Upon arrival at Hoedspruit airport, you will be transferred to Kapama Southern Camp in the Kapama Private Game Reserve which shares an open border with the Kruger National Park.  Kapama Southern Camp is located deep within the reserve with spectacular views of the surrounding bush.  The family villas are two-bedroom villas ensuring parents and kids have their own private spaces, a splash pool for those hot afternoons as well as all the luxury amenities to make your stay comfortable.

Day 5 & 6 – On safari in the Kapama Private Game Reserve

A typical day on safari will begin with early morning tea and rusks before you head out on your morning activity, either a game drive or a guided walking safari where you will have the chance to do some game viewing and a chance to spot some or all of the Big 5.

If your kids are not old enough to join on the standard game drives, they can go on a Bush Bumble drive with Kapama’s experienced guides where they will focus on smaller animals such as the little 5 as well as tracking some plains game.  There is a plethora of activities for the children at Kapama Southern Camp such as Bush Bumble drives, safari quests, cooking classes and a crafts centre, so parents can be rest assured that their kids are in great hands if they want an afternoon or morning to relax by themselves.

A delicious brunch is served on arrival back from your activities and then the afternoon is yours to relax in camp, take a dip in the pool, game watch from the deck or have an afternoon siesta.  Afternoon tea is then served before you head out on your afternoon safari, you will stop along the way for some sundowners as you watch the sun slip beneath the horizon before heading back to camp for another tasty dinner around the boma.

Day 7 – Depart for Johannesburg

As all good things do, your time in South Africa draws to a close.
After breakfast and a morning activity (if time allows) you will be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport in time for your flight to Johannesburg.  You will then continue your onward journey with wonderful memories of your time in this beautiful country.
