Today you board your flight from Johannesburg to Livingstone, Zambia, marking the start of your 5-day Zambia safari. The flight takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. On arrival at Livingstone Airport, you will be met and transferred to the Royal Livingstone Hotel, a short drive of around 15 minutes, where you will spend the next two nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Livingstone is a lively town located close to Victoria Falls on the Zambian side of the border. The Royal Livingstone Hotel is beautifully positioned on the banks of the Zambezi River, just upstream from where the river plunges into the dramatic gorge of Victoria Falls. Set beside Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, the hotel offers a unique setting where wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, hippos and occasionally elephants can often be seen roaming the grounds, creating a truly memorable safari-style stay.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, where you will experience this natural wonder in all its power and beauty. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders”—the falls are one of the largest waterfalls in the world, and the guided walk allows you to explore several viewpoints while learning about the history, geology and wildlife of the area. You may also have the opportunity to visit the local craft market where a variety of handmade curios, artwork and souvenirs are available.
You will return to the hotel around lunchtime, leaving the afternoon free to relax before heading out on a sunset cruise along the Zambezi River aboard the African Queen. As the sun sets over the river, enjoy drinks and snacks while keeping an eye out for wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birdlife along the riverbanks.
After breakfast, you will be collected from the hotel and transferred to Livingstone Airport, a short drive of approximately 15 minutes. Here you will board a light aircraft for your scenic flight to the Lower Zambezi Valley via Lusaka. The total flight time is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. On arrival at the airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park, you will be met and transferred to the Royal Zambezi Lodge, where you will spend the next three nights on a fully inclusive basis, enjoying a range of safari activities and the stunning natural beauty of the Zambezi River and surrounding wilderness.
Spend the next two days enjoying exceptional safari experiences at the Royal Zambezi Lodge, located on the banks of the magnificent Zambezi River. The Lower Zambezi National Park is a vast and largely untouched wilderness, known for its beautiful landscapes of rugged escarpments, open floodplains, towering trees and the winding Zambezi River itself. This rich ecosystem supports an impressive variety of wildlife including elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, hippos and crocodiles, as well as numerous antelope species and abundant birdlife.
A wide range of safari activities are available, offering different ways to explore the park. Guided game drives provide excellent opportunities to track wildlife across the floodplains, while canoe safaris and boat cruises along the river allow for a unique perspective of animals coming to drink along the banks. Guests may also enjoy fishing excursions on the Zambezi, visits to nearby local villages, or simply relax at the lodge while taking in the tranquil surroundings and spectacular African sunsets.
After an early morning safari activity and breakfast, you will be transferred to the nearby airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Lusaka. The flight takes approximately 1 hour, where you will connect with your onward commercial flight to Johannesburg, South Africa, which takes about 2 hours. This marks the end of your memorable Zambia safari, filled with incredible wildlife encounters and the natural beauty of the Zambezi region.
