Day 1- Depart Johannesburg for Maun, transfer to the Okavango Delta, Kweene Trails

Today you will depart OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg for Maun, Botswana.  Upon arrival in Maun you will embark on a scenic helicopter transfer to the Kweene Trails mobile camp – Kweene River Camp, in the Okavango Delta, this will be your base for two nights before moving further into the Delta.

Kweene River Camp is located on the banks of the seasonal Kweene River, the camp consists of a main area with a dining area and a seating area, accommodation is in dome tents complete with cozy bedrolls, lights for the evenings, an outside seating area and subtle touches of the surrounding bush.

Bathrooms are set up with bucket showers (the camp staff will ensure you have hot water for your shower) and a pit latrine toilet. Your guides and chefs are always there to assist with anything you may need.

This afternoon will be your first walking safari along the winding waterways and floodplains of the Okavango Delta.  Discovering the African bush on foot gives you a unique perspective of the land and wildlife. Your guide will show you all how the land supports the wildlife and how the wildlife in turn supports this amazing ecosystem.

Day 2 to 4 - Walking safari in the Okavango Delta, Mobile Camp

Your typical day at Kweene Trails will begin with early morning tea and rusks before heading out on foot to explore the area, returning to camp for a hearty brunch. During the heat of the day, you will relax in camp before exploring the areas surrounding camp in the late afternoon.

On day 3 you will have a longer day of walking as you will be moving camps, after breakfast you will embark on foot further into the Delta and arrive at your next mobile camping location – Magwegwe Camp, your base for the following 2 nights.  Magwegwe Camp is located in a seasonal swap, bringing with it an abundance of wildlife and some intriguing landscapes. The camp is set up in the same way as your first mobile camp ensuring you have all the comforts and amenities you will need.

Spend the next few days immersing yourselves in one of Africa’s last unspoilt wilderness areas, enjoying the peace and tranquillity that only a mobile camp can give you.  Your guides will teach you wonders about the lands and the wildlife leaving you wanting to know more…

Day 5 - Transfer to Maun, transfer to the Chobe Riverfront, Chobe Safari Lodge

This morning your time in the Delta comes to an end but not before one last bush breakfast.  You will then be transferred by helicopter back to Maun in time for your light aircraft transfer to Kasane, upon arrival you will be transferred to Chobe Safari Lodge on the banks of the famous Chobe River, where you will spend the next two nights.

You will arrive in time to freshen up and settle into your room.  Later this afternoon you can either go on a game drive in the Chobe National Park or on a sundowner river cruise along the Chobe River.  Both activities provide excellent game viewing, a chance to spot animals such as elephant, buffalo, lion, plains game and much more.  Return to camp in time for dinner overlooking the Chobe River.

Day 6 - On Safari in the Chobe National Park

Today is yours to enjoy the lodge and the activities on offer, enjoy a cruise along the Chobe River, or exciting game drives in the Chobe National Park, and spot some of the Big 5 and some of the Little 5. Enjoy your last sundowner looking out over the Chobe River with the sunset reflecting on the glistening water.

Day 7 - Light aircraft transfer to Maun, departure to Johannesburg

This morning after breakfast and a last activity if time allows, you will be transferred to the Kasane airport in time for your flight back to Johannesburg.
